What is Required
The school is not a drop-in class. Membership is a commitment, and it is taken seriously.
The Standard
The Practical Wu Dang school is not open to all. It is open to those who are ready to commit to the work on its own terms. The curriculum is complete; the instruction is serious; the standard belongs to the lineage, not the instructor.
Students are expected to uphold the discipline and character that the tradition requires. Those who cannot do so are invited to train elsewhere.
The Five Expectations
Regular attendance is the minimum condition of progress. Intermittent training is wasted training. Students who cannot commit to a consistent schedule are not ready for membership.
The instructor's role is to correct. A student who cannot receive correction without defensiveness cannot learn. The ability to be corrected — without ego, without excuse — is a prerequisite, not an aspiration.
Class time is instruction time. The practice that builds skill happens between classes, through daily repetition of what has been taught. Students who only practise in class will not develop.
Respect for the tradition, for the instructor and for fellow students is not optional. The character with which a student trains is the character they are building. This is as much a part of the curriculum as any form or technique.
This is not a short course. The system cannot be meaningfully studied in months. Students are expected to approach the work as a long-term undertaking — years, not weeks. Those looking for a quick result will not find it here.
The Pathway
For students who train long enough and demonstrate sufficient understanding, the pathway to instructor qualification exists within the WTBA framework. It is not offered to those who seek it prematurely.
Instructor training is an extension of student training — not a separate track. Those who have developed the necessary foundation are invited into that process when the instructor determines they are ready, not when the student decides they are.
The qualification belongs to the lineage. It is granted by those who hold it, on behalf of the system.
Admission
The first step is an enquiry. All messages are read by the instructor personally.
